I am Paul Pelzl, a Ph.D. candidate at VU Amsterdam and Tinbergen Institute, under the supervision of Prof. Steven Poelhekke.
My primary research interests are financial intermediation and development economics. In my PhD dissertation, I study the impact of macroeconomic shocks on financial and non-financial firms using highly granular micro-data. My job market paper highlights a novel link between bank capital regulations and lending to the corporate sector in periods of financial distress.
I am currently staying at the Research Department of De Nederlandsche Bank. In early 2020 I will join the Department of Business and Management Science at the Norwegian School of Economics. On this website you can find out more about my academic research, my CV, my teaching experience and my references.
